My name is Judy, and I am reaching out for my brother, Jason. Anyone who knows him will tell you he is warm, talkative, and funny — a natural jokester with a smile that never fades.

A few days ago I went into his room after he did not answer my calls. I found him unconscious on the floor. A lamp was knocked over. Blood was coming from his eye, his nose, and his mouth. I was home alone. I called 911, and Jason was rushed to the ER in Las Vegas.

An MRI showed a brain tumor that needed urgent attention. The hospital was overwhelmed. We waited more than a day before he could be transferred for neurosurgery. In that crowded ER, we often had to step in and help care for him ourselves.

St. Joseph Hospital in Phoenix finally took him. More scans confirmed a large mass in his brain. It had caused a stroke that left permanent damage and took the movement on his left side.

We are asking for your help so Jason can get the treatment he needs. Every gift goes toward his recovery. If you can donate, or share this page with people you love, it means the world to us.

Thank you for standing with Jason. Judy Lei

I am sorry I have not written sooner. We have raised $100,000 toward our $150,000 goal, and I am grateful to everyone who has stood with us.

For the past two years I have put my life on hold to care for Jason every day after his stroke. He has been through five rehab centers and many hospital readmissions. I feed him, change him, and advocate for him. His memory has not come back. He still needs pureed food and a feeding tube. His mobility comes and goes.

There have been terrible incidents in care — neglect, infection, a broken air conditioner that left him so cold he had to be hospitalized. His voice is almost gone. But when we play his favorite anime, his eyes still light up. When we hold his hand, he squeezes back.

Before this, Jason walked his dogs at dawn, filled sketchbooks, played badminton, and made everyone laugh. We will not give up on him.

We still need help covering the medical bills that keep piling up. Every dollar gives him a chance at comfort and dignity.

Thank you for standing with us. Judy & Family

My mom suffered from a stroke a little over two weeks ago, except it affected the right side of her body and caused severe swelling in her brain. She was overseas with limited healthcare options to bring her back to the states for surgery. She ultimately didn’t make it and my life has been pure suffering ever since, but seeing a different story for your brother broke my heart in the best way. Here’s to another chance for him. Thank you for sharing ♥️
